FACETED SURFACE
This piece explores methods of deconstructing surfaces with complex curvature. Digital modeling software has allowed architects to imagine exceedingly complicated shapes in 3D space. However, translating these shapes from the digital realm to reality remains a vexing question. Many of the standard materials of an architect are in-extensible, meaning they cannot be stretched to make surfaces with compound curvature. However, through the use of rationalization techniques, we can take surfaces with compound curvature and make them developable.
